Cleaning shouldn't make the world dirtier
The hotels lie at the heart of our environmental work, with their activities affecting the world around them every minute of every day. People clean, cook, serve and replenish stock. But these different tasks have one thing in common. They are carried out by people who share Scandic’s vision of "Omtanke" – Nordic care and consideration. They care about you and each other. They also contribute to a sustainable society.
Everyday environmental work at our hotels
- We use ecolabelled cleaning agents.
- We have started cleaning with steam at some hotels to see whether this could work more widely.
- We set the temperature at 21°C, as that is comfortable for most people and makes for the most efficient use of resources. At most hotels, guests who want a different temperature can change it by a few degrees up or down.
- We use the room key to control the lighting.
- We serve organic food and brew Fairtrade™ coffee.
- We sort all waste at the hotel into as many as 22 categories.
- We have a company car policy that only allows the lowest carbon dioxide emissions.
- We have an official policy that only allows the lowest carbon dioxide emissions
- We make demands of our suppliers and prioritise those who have a clear environmental policy or environmental certification.
- We constantly work to find new sustainable solutions for the hotel business, in all areas.
