Stay with a clean conscience

We want to create a better world for our children. Since 1993 our daily work has been dominated by small and large things that contribute to a more sustainable world. See what we've achieved so far and get tips on what you can do.

We care because we are part of society

Scandic has a presence in many countries. But most of those who work with us live in the same area as the hotel. This is why we want to make the area a pleasant place to live and work. For example, in some towns, night patrols by adults make the streets safer for our teenagers. The nearest Scandic offers those adults a night-time coffee to keep them going. It's what good neighbours do, and it's one of the things that Scandic in Society is all about.

New duvets are great for you. And for someone else too

You probably know that we change the duvets in our hotels when they become worn to ensure the best experience for our guests. But you may not know that many lightly used, clean and intact duvets have a second life. Some hotels give them to hostels for the homeless or aid organisations. Other hotels give food that wasn't served at meetings, straight to those in greater need. Ask at your Scandic about what they do to make life outside the hotel walls a little easier.

We believe that a company can do well and do good

Scandic in Society took shape in 2001. Through consultations at all the hotels, we got all our team members to take part and get involved. Scandic in Society is more about active initiatives than donating money. We want to create good values that we share with our team members, guests and customers. Our aim at Scandic is to be a good company in a good society.

We want to talk about cancer

Cancer affects us and our team members just the same as the rest of the world. The Pink Ribbon is the international symbol for the fight against breast cancer. Scandic is a main sponsor of the Swedish Cancer Society's Pink Ribbon breast cancer campaign. We provide information at hotels and contribute to breast cancer research. In this way, we hope that even more women will survive breast cancer in the future.

Save the Children

Save the Children works to uphold the rights of all children. Scandic has donated money to the Tallinn Child Support Centre, a place where the most socially vulnerable children in Tallinn receive help and support.

Fairtrade is a human right

Every cup of coffee that we serve in Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden carries the Fairtrade or UTZ label. When you drink a cup of coffee at Scandic, you are helping to ensure a better life for the growers and their families. Fairtrade and UTZ-certified coffee guarantees that the coffee is grown with social and environmental responsibility, and the coffee can always be traced to a country and grower. Fairtrade is an ethical and social product labelling organisation. Growers receive fair pay, and that enables them to send their children to school. We serve more than 20 million cups of organic coffee, either Fairtrade or UTZ-certified, at our hotels every year.
