Johanna Gradin is originally from Linköping but has been living in Stockholm since a couple of years ago. She is allergic to gluten, has a big interest for food and is well-informed about restaurants and cafés serving gluten-free alternatives, in Stockholm.

Kafé Täppan - Gotlandsgatan 65, Södermalm

An organic waffle café housed in an old shed. The café serves waffles made out of buckwheat with chèvre and beetroot and banana waffles with Turkish yogurt, walnuts and honey. Buy a waffle and a coffee, walk three minutes away to Nytorget and have a seat on a sunny bench to watch people.

Kaffeverket - Sankt Eriksgatan 88, Vasastan

Serves breakfast every day of the week with many gluten-free breakfast favorites on the menu. Avocado sandwich made with gluten-free bread, chia pudding topped with blueberry compote and pistachio, oatmeal with apple compote and overnight oats with berries. Beautiful interior with a lively environment for both chat and work.

Hotel Diplomat - Strandvägen 7 C, Östermalm

The enriched Hotel Diplomat located on Strandvägen has been serving afternoon tea since the 1960s. Nowadays you can choose between a classic afternoon tea with gluten-free scones and pastries and afternoon tea-tox with raw bars, pumpkin and coconut truffles and dark chocolate. Afternoon tea-tox is 100 % gluten, sugar and lactose free. Book a table on their website and mention “gluten-free”.

Kalf & Hansen - Mariatorget 2, Södermalm

Nordic organic fast food that excites everyone. My personal favorite is “Stockholm”, vegetarian quenelles served with seasonal hot vegetables. All quenelles are lactose and gluten free. Buy take-away and settle on the grass at Mariatorget, just outside the restaurant or walk up to Skinnarviksparken and enjoy the view across Norr Mälarstrand and Stockholm City Hall.

Yuc - Norrtullsgatan 15, Vasastan

Delicious tacos and a lovely messy atmosphere. Perfect for a joyful dinner party. All tacos on the menu can be ordered gluten free. Order “Jiro Dream of Tacos” with seared chili tuna and seaweed with sweet potato fries and you will not regret your choice.
