Stockholm's beautiful Old Town
Visit the oldest district of Stockholm - The Old Town. Follow the winding cobbled streets and stumble upon small shops selling hand crafted souvenirs for all seasons. Watch beautiful houses and charming cafés and if you dare, take a ghost walk at night or a roof top hiking and wave to the sea birds.
The Old Town - like an outdoor museum
Explore the history
To the sounds of clattering horse hooves and carriages you can enjoy the beautiful architecture, or close your eyes and let your imagination bring you hundreds of years back. Whatever you choose to do, we’ll make sure your stay with us has just as much charm as the feeling you get from the Old Town.
Listen to the stories of the past
Take a guided tour, listen to a scary ghost story and convince even the bravest to peer around the next corner with a little more trepidation. Take a break at Stortorget, Stockholm’s oldest square, where the Stockholm Bloodbath took place. These days there are charming cafés and restaurants here, which became lovely outdoor terraces in the summer. In the winter, the square is transformed into Stockholm’s most festive Christmas market, where the smell of roasted almonds and a cup of hot chocolate will warm up your souls.
Be inspired at the Nobel Museum by the laureates’ visions and ideas that changed our world, or admire the Storkyrkan national cathedral. You can also stroll around Riddarholmen islet and look at all the palaces there, or visit the Riddarholm Church – the only preserved medieval abbey in Stockholm.
Take part of the royal history
Go down into the cellar vault under the Royal Palace. Here you´ll find the Treasury with all its regalia, as well as the Royal Armoury with royal armour and costumes. Let your eyes get used to the light again and check out the outer courtyard and magnificent Changing of the Guard.
