Friday the 21st of December 2012 the hotel Scandic Continental in Stockholm will close to be reopened again in year 2015.
The whole Central Station area in Stockholm is being restored due to the construction of the City Line (Citybanan in Swedish). In front of the Central Station a new station building is being constructed and the current Scandic Continental will be demolished and a new hotel will be built. The hotel will be open as usual until 21st of December and the demolition of the building will start in January 2013.

Will Scandic Continental close?
Yes, the hotel building will be demolished because it´s necessary due to the construction of the City Line. We expect to welcome our guests back to a completely new Scandic Continental in 2015.
When will the hotel close?
The hotel will close right after the last guest checked out 21st of December 2012.
When will the hotel open again?
We expect to open the new Scandic Continental in 2015.
For how long can I still book a hotel room?
It will be possible to book rooms until 21st of December 2012.
Will Scandic continue with hotel activities on the same location?
Yes, we will. There will be a new hotel on the same location and the facility owner Jernhusen is pleased to have us at Scandic continuing our activities there.
Will also the conference center on Klarabergsgatan 37 close?
Since the conference center is located in a separate building with another facility owner, it will not be affected by the restoring process. Scandic Continental will have conference activities there during the whole year 2012.
How many rooms will the new hotel offer?
The new hotel will have about 400 rooms and a conference part of apr. 1 000 square meters. The hotel will also have a terrace.
Will I be disturbed by the construction work during the rest of the year?
Work in station and train tunnels, generating exploding sounds, will be conducted on a few occasions per day, you are welcome to contact the reception for more specific information about that. This type of work will be conducted all over Stockholm. A some occasions during daytime there will be noises from the work station towards Vasagatan. The management of the hotel is constantly cooperating with the local traffic authorities (Trafikverket) to minimize the disturbance for our guests and team members.
I have an agreement with Continental – is that valid also at other Scandic hotels in the surroundings?
If you have an agreement with a fixed price at Continental it will not be valid at other Scandic hotels. If you have a so called Corporate Saver agreement with percentage discount it will be valid at all Scandic hotels, excluding those with a fixed, negotiated prize.
