Barber shop at Scandic Malmen

Scandic Malmen and the hip barber studio MacLaren Barbers have joined forces by opening a pop-up shop in the lobby offering classic shaves.

Barber shops on the rise

Ted Andersson, Guest Relations Manager at Scandic Malmen, sums up the venture in one sentence.
We want to offer our guests another level of service and create a talking point in Sodermalm.”

The trend is clear. Male fashion and the beard trend are now more popular than ever, and barber shops are here to stay. MacLaren Barbers was founded by Benjamin Laws. When he moved to Stockholm a few years ago, he noticed that hairdressers were everywhere, but there was a distinct lack of real American "Barber Shops".

For all our hotel guests

You can get everything imaginable in a real barber shop – a haircut, beard or moustache trim, clean shave and a hot towel to help you unwind in the comfortable reclining barber’s chair. But don’t be fooled into believing that it’s only for men with beards, MacLaren Barbers also has plenty of female customers.

A night out, a lie-in and a morning shave

Now you can combine a visit to the salon with an evening in Sodermalm, and overnight stay at centrally located Scandic Malmen with its popular bar scene. This is a first for Scandic – offering our guests the chance to get a classic shave or trim without leaving our hotel. The salon will be located just inside the entrance to Scandic Malmen lobby in Medborgarplatsen square.

The salon will stay here for the foreseeable future, as a temporary pop-up salon. The original MacLaren Barbers can be found at Swedenborgsgatan 13.
