Terms & Conditions for SAS EuroBonus & Scandic Friends Account Linking



1. General

1.1 These Terms & Conditions are valid for the account linking feature between SAS’ loyalty program EuroBonus and Scandic’s loyalty program Scandic Friends (hereafter referred to as “Account Linking” or the “Account Linking Product”). Account Linking allows members of both EuroBonus and Scandic Friends to utilize membership level matching between the programs and gives members with linked accounts the possibility to exchange points between the two programs. By linking your accounts, you confirm that you accept these Terms & Conditions.

1.2 The Account Linking Product is operated by SAS EuroBonus AB (Reg. no. 559224-9782), with its principle office at Frösundaviks allé 1, SE-195 87 Stockholm (hereafter “EB”) and Scandic Hotels Holding AB (Reg. no. 556723-5725) a Swedish company with registered offices at Sveavägen 167, 102 33 Stockholm, Sweden (hereafter "Scandic"). EB and Scandic are hereafter commonly referred to as “us” or “we”). .

1.3 All transactions and activities within the Account Linking Product are also subject to EuroBonus Member Terms & Conditions (see EuroBonus Terms & Conditions) and Scandic Friends Membership Terms & Conditions (see Scandic Friends Terms & Conditions). In case of conflict between these Terms & Conditions and the EuroBonus Terms & Conditions or the Scandic Friends Membership Terms & Conditions, the provisions of these Terms & Conditions shall prevail with regard to features connected to the Account Linking Product, unless otherwise stated. 

2. About the Account Linking Product

2.1 Account Linking is only available for members in both Scandic Friends and EuroBonus.

2.2 You need to have been a member in at least one of the programs for at least 30 days before you can link your accounts. Both of your accounts need to be active to be linked (i.e. not blocked or closed).

2.3 You cannot link multiple accounts and each EuroBonus account can only be linked to one Scandic Friends account, and vice versa.

2.4 Account Linking can be initiated at either Scandic Friends or EuroBonus. You must be logged in to your account at the program where you want to activate Account Linking, and you will then be directed to the other program’s interface to perform a login.

2.5 You need to have basic personal details filled in both your profiles (email address, mobile number, first name, last name, date of birth) for us to be able to verify that the accounts belong to the same person. In case information is missing, you may be prompted to complete your details. Please ensure that you use the same information on both programs, i.e. spell your name the same way.

2.6 When your accounts have been successfully linked, you will be able to view your points balance and your membership number in both programs in each respective program interface. You will also receive an automatic membership level matching. between the two programs, as further described in section 3, and be able to exchange points between the programs, in accordance with section 4 below.

2.7 If you want to unlink your accounts, you can do so at either program. All benefits described in these Terms & Conditions will then cease to apply as well.

2.8 If your EuroBonus or Scandic Friends account is terminated or closed, the Account Linking and its associated benefits will terminate as well.

3. Membership Level Matching

3.1 A member’s highest membership level in either program will be automatically matched to an equivalent membership level in the other program in accordance with the following table (“Membership Level Matching”).

If the membership level is higher in EuroBonus program:

3.2 Membership Level Matching is not available for members with membership level L1, L2, L3 in Scandic Friends and with membership level Member in EuroBonus.

3.3 You need to be logged in and have an active Account Linking to access your matched membership level.

3.4 An upgrade or downgrade in your highest-ranking membership level in one program will result in a subsequent upgrade or downgrade to the corresponding matched membership level in the other program unless you have qualified for that membership level on your own merits.

3.5 Points which count towards a higher membership level cannot be transferred or accumulated between the two programs. You need to earn your membership level in one program to be able to participate in Membership Level Matching. All Members with an eligible membership level can participate in the Membership Level Matching, regardless of how the membership level was granted, e.g. through regular program rules, from a giveaway membership or a corporate program etc.

3.6 No specific rules or exceptions apply for members who have reached Lifetime Gold status in EuroBonus, i.e. they will be matched to Level 5 in Scandic Friends. If you however have become a EuroBonus Gold or Diamond member through Membership Level Matching from Scandic Friends Levels 5-7, the matched membership level will not count towards Lifetime Gold in EuroBonus.

3.7 Give away membership as a benefit will not apply if you have received your membership level through Membership Level Matching. This means that, for example, if a Scandic Friends member with Level 6 receives EuroBonus Diamond through Membership Level Matching, such member will not be able to give away a EuroBonus Silver or Gold card, unless they have qualified for that membership level on their own merits.

3.8 When using Membership Level Matching, the expiry date, i.e. the membership level expiry date, in the program where you have your highest membership level will be applied to the membership level and associated benefits received in the matched program. However, if you after having used the Membership Level Matching, earn the same higher membership level in the matched program through the regular program rules, the ordinary rules for qualification period and expiry date will apply for such membership level.

3.9 At the launch of the new Scandic Friends in the summer of 2024, some existing Scandic Friends members were awarded membership level L6 as a transitional measure even if they had not reached the qualifying points required for that level under the new Scandic Friends Membership Terms & Conditions. For the purposes of the Membership Level Matching, and unless they have been upgraded or downgraded or qualified for Levels 6 under the new Scandic Friends Membership Terms & Conditions, such members will be considered to have reached Level 5 and consequently be matched to EuroBonus Gold.

3.10 We reserve the right to change or update the rules for Membership Level Matching at any time.

4. Point Exchange (not yet available)

4.1 Members can convert points between the two programs in accordance with the following rules (Point Exchange).

4.2 You need to be logged in and have an active Account Linking to use the Point Exchange feature and you will also need to successfully log in to the other program, where you wish to exchange your points to, using a multi-factor authentication (one-time password) before you can exchange your points.

4.3 All Point Exchange take place at the following conversion rates:

  • 2 Scandic Friends Points are converted into 1 EuroBonus Point.
  • 1 EuroBonus Point is converted into 2 Scandic Friends Points.

This means that you can only convert an even number of Scandic Friends Points into EuroBonus Points.

4.4 Points exchanged between the programs will expire either on the original expiry date of the points that were exchanged or the date falling one year after the exchange, whichever is earlier.

4.5 When transferring Scandic Friends Points to a EuroBonus Diamond account the points will keep their original expiry date (i.e. points transferred from Scandic Friends will not receive the ”no point expiration benefit” which is applicable for Diamond members). When transferring a EuroBonus Point with no expiry date from a EuroBonus Diamond account to Scandic Friends, the points will receive a twelve-month expiry date from the time of registration on the Scandic Friends account.

4.6 We reserve the right to decide on a minimum number of points to be used for Point Exchange from each program, and this number may be updated from time to time. We also reserve the right to change or update the rules for Point Exchange at any time.

4.7 Members of a EuroBonus Point Sharing account can use the Point Exchange feature in accordance with section 3.5 of the Point Sharing terms & conditions.

5. Personal Data

5.1 SAS EuroBonus AB (Reg. no. 559224-9782) (EB) and Scandic Hotels Holding AB, (Reg. no. 556723-5725) ("Scandic") are responsible for the personal data processing in relation to Account Linking. EB and Scandic act as separate controllers of your data and below we will describe our responsibilities in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU Regulation no. 2016/679), hereinafter GDPR.

5.3 Usage of the Account Linking Product requires us to process your personal data. To fulfil our commitment under these Terms & Conditions, it is thus necessary for us to process and share information that relates to you as a person.

5.4 Personal data means any information relating to you as a natural person and through which you can be identified directly or indirectly, such as your name, address or phone number.

5.5 To deliver the Account Linking Product, and for you to start enjoying the benefits of the Account Linking, personal data such as membership information (for example membership number, enrollment date, points balance, status information) and contact information (for example first and last name, email) will be processed. The legal basis for this processing is fulfillment of these Terms & Conditions. We will share personal data between us to verify your account and enable you to use the services.

5.6 To be able to contact you with information about your Account Linking, confirmation on point transfers and membership level matching, fail messages and other necessary and relevant information to support your usage of the Account Linking Product, personal data such as contact information (for example first and last name, email, mobile number) will be processed. The legal basis for this processing is fulfillment of these Terms & Conditions. We will share personal data between us to send you necessary information about the program and services that you use.

5.7 To be able to help you with service and support through our respective customer service, personal data such as contact information (for example first and last name, email, mobile number) and membership information (for example membership number, enrollment date, points balance, tier information) will be processed. The legal basis for this processing is fulfillment of these Terms & Conditions. We may further share personal data between us to be able to support your inquiry.

5.8 We may send you information about special campaigns, special offers and other for the service relevant marketing content and perform profiling activities, using your personal data, in accordance with each program’s general privacy policy.

5.9 We will save your personal data as long as it is necessary with regard to the purpose of the processing.

6. Misuse

6.1 We reserve the right to terminate your Account Linking, including its associated benefits, in cases which we deem constitute misuse. We also reserve the right to downgrade your membership level and block or reverse any Point Exchanges in cases which we deem constitute misuse. Misuse may consist of unsuitable or disrespectful behavior towards us or our business partners, our employees or customers, violation of these Terms and Conditions, illegal conduct, fraud or actions that are generally regarded as immoral or unethical.

6.2 EB or Scandic may at any time correct or withdraw EuroBonus Points or Scandic Friends Points wrongly registered on your account or recall an incorrect Membership Level Matching due to technical errors or any other malfunction. For the avoidance of doubt, such correction could also affect your membership level and related benefits.

6.3 Points and benefits are personal and can under no circumstances be sold, transferred, combined, inherited, refunded in cash or used for other purposes than within the EuroBonus program or the Scandic Friends program unless otherwise stated by EB or Scandic. In case of misuse, we can confiscate points, membership status and benefits. Members can be refused access to a plane, a hotel or otherwise be refused to enter into or enjoy the performance of an agreement for other products or services.

6.4 Further, EB and Scandic reserves the right to terminate your respective memberships in case of misuse in accordance with EuroBonus Member Terms & Conditions and Scandic Friends Membership Terms & Conditions. 

7. Disputes and applicable legislation

7.1 To the extent permissible by local law or regulations, these Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with Swedish law. All parties submit, to the extent permitted by local law or regulations, to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the District Court of Stockholm to resolve any dispute that may arise from these Terms & Conditions.

7.2 Any provision of these Terms & Conditions declared void or unenforceable by any competent authority or court shall, to the extent of such invalidity or unenforceability, be deemed severable and shall not affect the other provisions remaining, which shall continue unaffected.

7.3 We reserve the right to change these Terms & Conditions at any time with or without notice. We further reserve the right to terminate these Terms & Conditions and the Account Linking Product at any time and also to pause the Account Linking or any associated benefit from time to time at our sole discretion.
