Oslo for Kids – 10 Activity Tips

When you stay with us, we want all families to feel at home! This means we take extra good care of the children, so the whole family can relax. We therefore want to share tips and make suggestions that can make an Oslo trip perfect for everyone. Even though the capital itself can be a bit exciting – with trams, the Palace, and other things the kids don't have at home – it can also be refreshing to get out of the city a bit.

1. Oslo Summer Park (open until the autumn holidays)

One of Oslo's most popular parks is Oslo Summer Park. The park has 200 elements in the trees spread over 12 different courses with varying difficulty levels. Choose between mini courses, family courses, and tough courses up to 20 meters above the ground. The climbing park also has several zip-lines – the longest spanning 230 meters. The bravest can jump from the Tiger Leap and experience free fall from 20 meters above the ground. You can also rent bikes here.

Around the park, there are several cozy grill and picnic areas where you can eat your packed food.

2. Tusenfryd

Norway's largest amusement park with over 30 exciting attractions, fun games, and a range of shops and eateries. TusenFryd has attractions suitable for all age groups, including roller coasters and carousels, log flumes, bumper cars, play structures, and much more. In the summer, BadeFryd is open with large slides, a lazy river, a pool, and a splash area.

3. Ekeberg Sculpture Park and Ekeberg Animal Farm

On a hill above the city, you'll find Ekeberg Hill with the accompanying Ekeberg Sculpture Park and Ekeberg Animal Farm. Here you can wander around and see and experience sculptures in all shapes. When your legs are tired, Ekeberg Animal Farm welcomes you to nice experiences with animals and the opportunity for something to eat. End the day with a round of mini-golf at Ekeberg Mini Golf!

4. Oslo Reptile Park

If you like reptiles, you should visit Oslo Reptile Park. A small zoo in the middle of Oslo with over 100 animals, including pythons, snakes, geckos, lizards, poison dart frogs, beautiful tarantulas, a dwarf crocodile, monkeys, turtles, and fish – and a black widow, the world's most venomous spider.

The park is located at the bottom of St. Hanshaugen, just a 15-minute walk from Oslo Central Station.

5. Technical Museum

The Norwegian Technical Museum is located at Kjelsås, about 20 minutes from Oslo city center. You can get there by bus or tram from the center, or by car. The Technical Museum is a playground of playful learning for explorers of all ages. More than 100 hands-on installations and around 25 themed exhibitions on technology and medicine await you, and every weekend and holiday you can participate in an extensive program. In the Science Center, you can play and learn; everything from testing reaction time, running against the best, using the coolest selfie spots, and seeing how blood flows through the body.

6. The Pop Center

Located in Grünerløkka, you'll find an experience museum for Norwegian popular music. Here, children can learn about the development of popular music, but also try out a range of interactive experiences such as artist stations and a time machine.

7. Paradox Museum

The Paradox Museum is an interactive experience museum that combines science, art, and optical illusions to challenge your senses and perceptions. The museum is designed to "challenge reality" through interactive installations that play on psychology, perception, science, and art. There are over 70 exhibits that play with perspective, physics, and visual perception, offering a fun and thought-provoking experience for both children and adults. Each room and installation is designed to be "Instagram-friendly," and visitors are encouraged to take photos, film, and share.

8. Deichman Bjørvika

The children's section on the 2nd floor is specifically designed to inspire children to explore books and stories. Here, you'll find colorful niches and cave-like rooms with themes like "bird mountain" and blue wool balls, inviting both calm reading and active play. Among the regular activities are "Children's Cinema," "Baby Song," and "Baby at the Library." All offerings are free, but some require registration. PS! They also have a variety of activities and areas tailored for teenagers!

9. Megazone

Megazone Oslo is an exciting activity center located in the heart of Oslo, perfect for children aged 6 and up. Here, kids can participate in fun and action-packed activities like laser tag, indoor paintball, and escape games. They are open every day, but it's recommended to book a time slot.

10. Frognerparken

The Frogner Park is a large park located near Majorstuen. It offers a variety of activities for children. At the main entrance, you’ll find a large and popular playground with swings, slides, climbing frames, and sandboxes. In addition, you can explore and learn more about Vigeland Park both at the Vigeland Museum and in the large and well-known sculpture park.
