On historical grounds
The name The Dock 69°39 is based on the hotel being located in the historical Vervet area and its importance in Norwegian polar history. The polar expeditions and expedition culture will guide how the hotel is designed. The hotel is located 69 degrees and 39 minutes north, hence the name.
The shipyard became the city’s first industrial place to work when it was established in the mid-1800s. It played an important part in Norwegian polar history when it received the task of reinforcing the vessel Gjøa before Roald Amundsen’s expedition towards the Northwest Passage. The hotel will reflect the rich history of the area and be a safe haven to return to after experiences in the raw, Arctic nature.
The hotel will open for booking during the autumn 2024.
