My Membership 

How do I join Scandic Friends?

You can become a member on our website by registering a profile. It’s completely free, and you need to be at least 18 years old.

What is a member year?

A member year is a 12-month period that kicks off the day you became part of Scandic Friends and wraps up one year later on the last day of the same month. For example, if you signed up on May 12, 2024, your first member year would run from May 12, 2024, to May 31, 2025. Your next year of membership would then start on June 1, 2025, and end on May 31, 2026. Then for the next member year, we look at the Qualification points and Qualifying nights you've earned throughout the current member year. Once the year ends, these points and nights will expire.

How do I get upgraded to a new level?

You reach the next level by earning points during your membership year. To reach Good Friend (Level 2), you need 5,000 points per membership year; Close Friend (Level 3), 10,000 points per membership year; Dear Friend (Level 4), 25,000 points per membership year; Loyal Friend (Level 5), 100,000 points per membership year; True Friend (Level 6), 250,000 points per membership year; and Best Friend (Level 7), 400,000 points or 100 nights per membership year. Remember, you can always spend your points without it affecting your level.

How do I get downgraded?

You get downgraded if you don’t reach the points required for a level during your membership year. You can only be downgraded one level per membership year. Remember, you can always spend your points without it affecting your level.

How long will I keep my level?

All upgrades and downgrades are based on your membership year. A membership year starts the month you first joined Scandic Friends and lasts for 12 months. When you reach a higher level, you get it immediately and keep it for the current membership year and the next membership year.

How do I know my friendship level and how to reach the next one?

Log in to My Pages to find all the information about your level and points.

How do I identify myself as a member?

In the Scandic app, you can find your membership. You can also log in to My Pages on the website and show it at the hotel to get your benefits.

I’m not getting emails from Scandic Friends, why?

Check your contact details on My Page. You can also contact our member service, and we will help you.

I don’t want to receive emails from Scandic Friends, what should I do?

Click the “Unsubscribe” link in the next email, and you will be unsubscribed.

How do I cancel my membership?

How do I check my points balance?

You can see your points, membership level, how far you have to the next level, and upcoming stays on My Page.

How can I earn points?

You can earn points in many ways. When you stay with us, you earn points on everything you charge to your room (room rate, food, and beverages). Note that the stay must be point-qualifying. You can also earn points by getting a Scandic Friends Mastercard or earning points through our partners. There are two types of points – qualifying (earned when you spend at Scandic) and non-qualifying (earned, for example, via Scandic Friends Mastercard or partners). With qualifying points, you can climb to the next level.

How can I spend my points with Scandic Friends?

You can use all your points to redeem bonus nights at our hotels, on food and beverages when you stay at the hotel, and on various add-ons when you book on our website. Find all the information here.

How long do my points last before expiring?

You can use your points for three years from the month they were earned. Remember, you can always spend your points without it affecting your level. On My Page, you can see the expiration date of your points.

How can I find out if any of my points are about to expire?

You will get notifications about points that are nearing expiration through our Scandic Friends email communications. Information about your points is also available on My Pages.

How do I earn qualifying points?

First, you need to book a stay at a rate that qualifies for points. Most room rates booked directly on our website, hotels, app, phone booking, and corporate self-booking systems are point-qualifying. To reach Best Friend (Level 7), which you can also achieve with qualifying nights, the same rules apply. Read our terms and conditions to learn more.

How do I earn points for my room in a group booking?

If the rate is point-qualifying and your membership is registered, you earn points for the room rate but not for any other purchases made during the stay. Special conditions may apply to certain group bookings.

I stayed at one of your hotels, but don’t see my earned points. Why is that?

First, check that your stay was point-qualifying; see our terms and conditions here. Note that it can take up to 10 days after the stay before you can see your points. If you are missing points, you can fill out this form for missing points.

What benefits do I get as a Scandic Friends member?

You get several benefits that you can use both when you stay with us or just drop by. Read more about all the benefits here. Additionally, you earn points that can be used for bonus nights, services, dining experiences, and our points shop. Find more information on how to use your points here.

Do I get a member discount on room bookings and how does it work?

Yes! As a Scandic Friends member, you always get our best room rates. You see them directly on our website, and to book, log in to your membership profile or enter your membership number in the booking. You can book your member rates on all our public rates (Full flex, Change, and Best price). If you are not already a member, you can join while booking a hotel room.

How do reward nights work?

A reward night is a hotel stay that you can book using points earned as a member. You can reserve a reward night up to one year in advance. With Scandic Friends, advancing to higher levels can give you more access to reward nights, and you can also book a reward night with a mix of points and cash. While you won't earn points for a reward night paid with points only, you can still earn points during your stay. For example, dining at our restaurant and billing it to your room will earn you points.

Can I make a booking with the member discount over the phone?

Our Friendly rates are exclusively available on our website; however, we can assist you in booking the Full Flex rate over the phone or at the hotel.

Can I book a hotel stay at member rates and still opt to earn SAS EuroBonus points during my stay?

No, if you choose to use your SAS EuroBonus membership during the stay, you will not be eligible to stay at your Scandic Friends member rate or receive other Scandic Friends benefits.

How do I earn points with Scandic Friends partners?

How do I use my dining discount?

Depending on your level, you get a 10% or 15% dining discount on weekends (Friday-Sunday). Show your membership when making your purchase. Read more about the discount here.

How do I use my restaurant voucher?

Depending on your level, you get a restaurant voucher/night at check-in. You use it on food and beverages (excluding spirits) during your stay. You can also choose to earn extra points instead of getting a voucher. Read more about the voucher here.

How do I choose points instead of a restaurant voucher?

If you are at a friends level where one of the benefits is a restaurant voucher, you can choose to get points instead of the voucher. This is great, for example, when you don’t have time to visit our restaurant! You make the choice each time you check in by telling us at the reception. When you check in, choose the option that suits you, and your choice applies for the entire stay and cannot be changed afterward or during the stay. If you stay multiple nights during the same stay, you cannot choose points for some nights and a voucher for others.

Pay with points in restaurant, bar and shop

How does it work?

You can pay with points in the restaurant, bar, and shop when you stay with us. Simply charge the expenses to your room instead of making immediate payments. You also have the option to split the payment, using points for a portion and cash for the remainder.

How much are my points worth when buying something at the hotel? 

You can easily calculate what your points are worth! 1 SEK is worth 60 points (1 EUR = 630 points, 1 NOK = 60 points, 1 DKK = 84 points, 1 PLN = 144 points). In other words, if you buy something for 50 SEK, you pay 3000 points (calculation: 50x60=3000). Note that these examples apply to purchases at the hotel; a different conversion model applies for bonus nights.

Can everything at the hotels be paid with points? 

You can spend your points for most items in our shop, and nearly all purchases in the bar and restaurant. The only exception is for hard liquor, which cannot be purchased with points in Sweden, Norway, and Finland due to local regulations.

Will I earn points for the items paid with points?

No, the items you pay with points will not be point qualifying. However, if you choose to make part of the payment in cash, you will earn points on that portion.

When was the new Scandic Friends launched?

Our new community was launched in August 2024, all to give you an even better experience. As a first step in the launch, we went from 5 to 7 levels of friendship. And that was just the beginning! Become a member here.

Does my level change in the new Scandic Friends?

Yes, you have received a new level based on your earned points, i.e., the points you have earned in the last 12 months. But no worries, you have not been downgraded, and with more levels in the new Scandic Friends, it is also easier to climb. You can see your new level on My Pages.

How long do I keep my level?

As in the old program, you will be evaluated at the end of your membership year and be either upgraded, downgraded or remain at the same level based on your tier points & nights.

What happens to my points transferred to the new Scandic Friends?

Of course, you keep all the points you have previously earned, and the validity period remains the same. You can see how many points you have and how long they are valid on My Page.
