What’s the difference between base points and bonus points?

With base points, you can both climb to the next level and spend. Bonus points are just for spending.

I'm missing points, what should I do?

If you’re missing points, you’re always welcome to contact our membership service. Just keep in mind that it can take up to 10 days for your points to show after you've earned them.

How do I earn points?

We have two different types of points, base points, and bonus points. Points can be earned in several ways e.g. by booking a point qualifying night, choosing to book on our web, or when eating in one of our restaurants during your stay (if you put the bill on your room).

How can I spend my points with Scandic Friends?

What can the points be used for, besides reward nights?

How do I know my points status?

On My page, you can see how many points you’ve earned. You can also find your membership level, how many points/night you need to reach the next level and upcoming stays.

For how long will my points be valid before they will expire?

Your base points count towards a new membership level during a 12-month period, after that, they will be added to your member account as point you can spend. These spending points will then be available for another 24 months. Base- and bonus points are valid for 36 months from the respective month of earnings. 

What’s a qualifying night?

A qualifying night is a night you earn points for and counts towards a higher membership level. Most bookings made on Scandic's website, with a hotel directly, Reservation & Member service or corporate self-booking tools are qualifying nights. With a few exceptions for complimentary stays, reward nights* or other special agreement rates. However, bookings made through a third-party website (e.g. Hotels.com, Expedia, Booking.com,) group booking or Tour Operators will not count as qualifying nights.

*a reward night is not point qualifying, but you can still earn some points. Find out more about reward nights work.

I stayed at one of your hotels but can’t see my earned points, how come?

It can take up to 10 days for your points to display on My page. If you still don’t see your points after 10 days you can always register your missing points.

Member benefits

How much discount do I get as a member?

The new member discount is applied to all our public rate products and is depending on which cancellation policy you choose. The discount can vary but you will always receive the best price compared to our public rates as a member! You will also have the possibility to receive even better prices than before since the discount applies for all our public rates.

Why do I have to be a member to receive the discount?

Our members are important to us, and as a token of our appreciation for their loyalty we have benefits in our loyalty program, and the member prices is one of them.

How do I get the member discount?

If you already are a member you can click to Log in or just add your membership number during the reservation. If you are a not a member today, the prices will be displayed and you can easily sign up in during the reservation to be able to receive the discount.

Can I book these by phone?

The best loyalty rates are only available on our web, but we can help you to book the Full Flex rate  over the phone/at the hotel.

Will our best rate guarantee be based on member rates?

Our Best rate guarantee is valid against the ordinary public rates, as it is today.

Can I book a member rate but choose to receive SAS EuroBonus points during the stay?

No, if you choose to use your SAS EuroBonus membership during your stay, no member rate or any other Scandic Friends benefits apply.

What happens if the FG2 is entered?

A notification will inform the member that the booking code is no longer needed if you are logged in your discount will apply.

Can I book a member rate but choose to receive SAS EuroBonus points during the stay?

No, if you choose to use your SAS EuroBonus membership during your stay, no Scandic Friends benefits apply.

How do reward nights work?

A reward night is a hotel stay you can book with points you’ve earned as a member. You can book a reward night one year in advance. With Scandic Friends, you can receive extended access to reward nights when climbing a level and you can also book a reward night with partial payment, combining points and cash. You will not earn points on your reward night, but it doesn't mean you can't earn points. Book your reward night through our website and you'll get your online booking bonus, or eat in our restaurant during your stay and put the bill on your room and you'll earn points.

Give away a reward night
You can always give one of your reward nights to someone else. To do so you need to call our member service, you can not book a reward night for someone else through our web our app.

When will I be upgraded to the next level?

You can see how many points or nights you need to reach the next level by login into My pages.

I have lost my membership card. How do I get a new one?

We now have a digital card that you easily download to your phone. Find it on My page or download it to your smartphone through the link you find in our email communication from Scandic Friends.  If you prefer a non-digital card you can of course order one.

I have forgotten my password. How do I log in?

I do not receive emails from Scandic Friends, why?

I don’t want to receive emails from Scandic Friends, what should I do?

Just click the link ‘Unsubscribe’ in an email you’ve received from us. You can also contact hour member service. Please note, if you unsubscribe you won’t receive information regarding your membership, points status or headstarts of offers? However, you will still receive information about your booking.

Pay with points in restaurant, bar and shop

How does it work?

Now members can pay with points in our restaurant, shop and bar when staying with us. The only thing you'll have to do is apply your charges to your room instead of paying it straight away. You can also choose to pay one part with points and the rest in cash.

Can everything at the hotels be paid with points? 

You can spend your points on everything in our shop and almost everything in the bar and restaurant. The only restriction is on hard liquor, which can not be paid with points in Sweden, Norway and Finland due to local legislation.

Will I earn points for the items I pay with points?

No, the items you pay with points will not be point qualifying. However, if you decided to pay some in cash, you will earn points on that part.

Why is the Total incl. VAT and Total excl. VAT incorrect on my receipt when I pay with points?

At the moment we have an issue in one of our systems, and it causes it to shows the wrong Total incl. VAT and Total excl. VAT, however, the Total VAT is correct. If you'd like to get everything you paid with cash on a separate bill, with the correct VAT, it won't be a problem, just ask in the reception while checking out.
