THINGS TO DO IN AULANKO

Aulanko area is one of the most beautiful natural attractions in Finland and a popular tourist destination year-round. The area’s magnificent nature and wide variety of activities ensure you never get bored! 

Aulanko Spa and Day Spa

A spa visit with a hotel stay offers a refreshing break from everyday life. The hotel’s large tropical spa area is suitable for all ages and is included in the price of accommodation.

For additional pampering during your stay, visit the Hygge Day Spa, which offers e.g. spa treatments, massage, facial and body treatments and sports massage.

Aulanko glow bowling alley

Visit the glow bowling alley located in the spa building for bowling and to enjoy good music. Children get their own shoes and lighter balls.

HugoPark Adventure Park

In the adjacent park we have the impressive HugoPark Adventure Park, which is suitable for everyone over the age of 2. The Park features 9 adventure courses of different levels, including slides, climbing walls, climbing nets, various rope bridges, climbing ropes and base jumps and much more.

Tennis

Next to the hotel there are four outdoor tennis courts and you can book a court via the Aulanko tennis courts page.

Aulanko Outdoors activities

If you are interested in other sports activities,  Aulanko Outdoors equipment hire next to the spa hotel offers lots of different types of equipment and tips for excursions. The range includes e.g. fat bikes, sup boards, canoes, kayaks, snowshoes, ski shoes, ski skates, sliding snow shoes, kicksleds, trangias and much more.

In summer 2024, Aulanko Outdoors will offer not only equipment hire but also short excursions on land and water between 24 June and 10 August 2024. Tour de Aulanko combines hiking with sights and fun facts about Aulanko in a mobile quiz. Enjoy an excursion as a family or get together in teams for a competition!

Outdoor trails

There are lots activities and attractions on offer in the area around Scandic Aulanko Spa Hotel. The well-kept and well-lit park roads and outdoor trails bring joy to outdoor enthusiasts all year round. The area also has a lit running trail and cross-country skiing trails for both freestyle and traditional skiing.


Riding

Aulanko Riding School next to the hotel offers riding lessons in a riding arena, field and the countryside, sleigh and carriage driving and lead rein lessons for visitors to Aulanko. Also available for groups. Lead rein lessons are also suitable for the youngest members of the family. 

Rowing boats

In the summer, urban rowing boats are free to use for all. They can be found at the area set aside for rowing boats on the beach. Please return the boat to the same place after use.

Forest park and observation tower

The Aulanko forest park and observation tower - nature reserve dates back to the 1800s, when Colonel Hugo Standertskjöld established an English-style park. The observation tower in the area affords breathtaking views over the Vanajavesi valley. A guided tour of the forest park led by a tour guide offers an opportunity to learn about the first national urban park in Finland.

Cafes

Kavaljeeri Summer Cafe  which is located in a romantic villa dating from 1890 offers delicious treats in the summer in a cultural and historic setting right next to the hotel. In the summer cafe you can enjoy homemade waffles, an assortment of savoury treats and refreshing drinks. Kavaljeeri is also a popular wedding venue.

Aulanko Tower Cafe is located next to the historic observation tower. The Järvikahvila cafe on the shore of Lake Aulanko is a cosy place to enjoy refreshments and also a gateway to activities in Aulanko. The cafe also offers e.g. guided culture walks in the forest park for groups.

Golf ja minigolf

Right next to the hotel is Aulanko Golf, which has one 18-hole golf course, the Eversti, and a nine-hole park course, the Hugo. There are also many other golf courses in the Hämeenlinna area, including Linna Golf and Tawast Golf.

The Spa Hotel has a 12-hole minigolf course, price EUR 8/adult and EUR 6/child aged 0–14, as well as a frisbee golf course. Next to the Spa reception there is also a golf simulator for golf practice.

Häme Castle

Häme Castle, which rises above Lake Vanajavesi, is one of Finland’s medieval castles and the most well-known landmark in Hämeenlinna. Here you get a glimpse of life in the Middle Ages and the glory days and decline of the 700-year-old castle.

Iittala Village

Iittala Village in the north of Hämeenlinna is a great destination for a day trip. It is within easy reach by local train or car and the journey takes around 20 minutes. In addition to the Iittala glass factory, which was established towards the end of the 1800s, you can also visit the artists and craftspeople in the Arts and Crafts Quarter (Lasimäkeläiskortteli), where jolly naive art intermingles with the history of valuable and sumptuous glass. 

Cruises

Hopealinjat offers cruises on Lake Vanajavesi in the summer. The cruises also stop at Aulanko.
