Each room at the hotel is different, the amenities are comprehensive and the beds large and comfortable. For example, you can select a room with a bathtub, a bathrobe and slippers, with a private sauna or with city or park views.
In the timelessly elegant rooms of the original part of the building, nostalgic French windows and wide window sills invite you to enjoy the views. In the modern and light rooms of the new part there are floor-to-ceiling windows, extending the space onto the views of the courtyard and the Kaisaniemi Park.
Well-being, exercise and relaxation
Go jogging in the adjacent Kaisaniemi and Töölönlahti area or exercise in the hotel’s modern gym. In addition, the hotel’s beautiful yoga room with its lovely yoga mats invites you to the world of yoga!

The friendly staff of our restaurant and the warm and elegant milieu invite you to relax and feast. Classical flavours inspired by French cuisine and updated to the present day, a pinch of the unexpected and a trifle of luxury – that is the recipe of our first-class restaurant experience. You can choose from a variety of delicious dishes, perhaps topping off the experience with caviar, for example. How about opera cake with gold dust and calvados ice cream?
The breakfast tops off the visit
Take time for the breakfast buffet, because at Grand Central it is particularly delicious. Already at the door you are greeted by the enticing scent of freshly baked sourdough bread. In addition to Scandic’s traditional breakfast delicacies breakfast includes overnight oats and special coffees as well as freshly squeezed juice. And if you desire more delicacies, you can also order a Mimosa, sparkling wine and hot dishes served by the portion, such as Egg Royale.
You can enjoy the buffet breakfast in the cosy Brasserie Grand or on the glass or outdoor terrace. Alternatively, breakfast in the privacy of your own room can also be arranged!
Indulgence in the hotel room
How about a ready breakfast in bed or a delicious dinner in the peace of your hotel room? On the comprehensive room service menu you can find delicacies to enjoy in the hotel room. A speciality is the staycation menu, to be ordered in advance, when you want to spend a pleasant evening with good wine and salty and sweet small delicacies, and the three-course dinner, available in the Superior Plus, Junior Suite and Master Suite rooms, as these rooms have a table at which to dine comfortably. Traditional sparkling drinks and indulgent delicacies can also be arranged!
The hotel’s enchanting story
VR’s administrative and office building, designed by the world-famous Eliel Saarinen and completed in 1909, was converted into a magnificent hotel in cooperation with the Finnish Heritage Agency. Saarinen’s building, representing late art nouveau, takes you to international places and the courtyard glass terrace reminds you of Paris. You can marvel at the building’s original, splendidly restored details and renovated furniture and lighting fixtures from different decades – some are design classics, some like works of art – everywhere in the hotel.
