THE CITY DEEPLY LOVED BY ITS LOCALS
A park for everyone
Slottskogen is one of many fun activities that's free of charge in Gothenburg. Watch the penguins, seals and all the other animals living in the park or let your kids play at the big playground. Next to Slottskogen you'll find Botaniska tradgarden, one of Europes biggest botanical gardens. If you're in a shopping mood, jump between all the different stores in the city centre. When your legs are tired from walking, take a seat on Avenyn for some people spotting and stay all night, this is the street where you'll find many of Gothenburg's most popular nightclubs, pubs and our own Roof top bar at Scandic Rubinen.
Ocean and islands are a part of the city
Go by boat along the coastline and do some island hopping in the beautiful archipelago. The flat rocks are typical for the western part of Sweden. Go by ferry, rib boat, kayak, the options are many.
Don't let the weather stop you
Don´t worry about the weather conditions in Gothenburg! If it starts to rain the city still has a lot to offer.
Nordstan, shopping with roof top over your head
Universeum, Nordic region's largest science centre
Sjofartsmuseet, museum about life, both above and under the water
Konstmuseet (art museum) at the top of Avenyn
Liseberg (amusement park), an activity outside but you will probably get wet from one of the rides anyway
But don´t let the weather stop you, even on a hot sunny day, these activities are of course as much fun.
Coffee, cinnamon buns and fabulous view
Visit the charming district Haga and take a coffee break at one of the many cafés, known for their supersized cinnamon buns and cobblestone streets, or why not share a piece of cake at the classic café Brogyllen on Vastra Hamngatan.
If you're hungry you can find something for every taste bud. Visit one of our own restaurant HAK at Scandic Europa or maybe Ruby Bar at Scandic Rubinen, both restaurants serve delicious food.
Food from the sea
Gothenburg is known for being a harbour city and fishing is in the genes. That's why you can find a lot of great fish restaurants.
