Visit Denmark from 400 years ago
Explore The Old Town which takes you back in time to a Danish market town as it was in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Visit the old brewery, newspaper print shop and textile factory. Pay a visit to the blacksmith’s shop, situated in a small timbered workshop. The blacksmith made various pieces of equipment and horseshoes. In another building, the coppersmith made kettles and cooking utensils which the wealthy citizens could afford. Lille Rosengård was built in 1741 by a wealthy merchant who rented rooms to a number of craftsmen who produced candles, soap and shoes. An engraver and bookbinder had their workshop in a renaissance building from about 1625. Take a break in the Renaissance Garden, which the Mayor from 1647 had planted as a symbol of his social status. The village also houses a number of museums where you can view fine porcelain dolls, steam machines, mechanical toys and silverware.
